Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

#7 Men's Lacrosse Steals 10-5 Decision from #10 Pace

Pleasantville, N.Y. - It was consistent scoring and a strong presence at the faceoff that propelled the no. 7 Adelphi University men's lacrosse program to a 10-5 win over no. 10 Pace University Wednesday afternoon at Pace Stadium.

Behind a hat trick from John Arcidiacono, five additional members of the program also found the back of the net - matching the number of players that scored in the overtime win in March. Edward Perlstein posted a 12-for-17 performance at the faceoff X, as Kevin Rice pulled in 12 saves and the win.

Adelphi (4-1, 4-0 NE10) saw the only offense in the opening quarter, scoring two and managing to hold their opponent scoreless. Arcidiacono got things going for the Panthers at 12:02 in the first, as the Setters managed two shots at the other end but were stopped by Rice. Jack Hipchen scored later in the frame and was assisted by Lawrence Galizia to take a 2-0 lead. Pace was responsible for eight more shots over the ensuing 6:30 minutes, two of which were picked up by Rice and the rest were off the mark.

Pace mustered up a bit of momentum in the second quarter after the visitors worked themselves to a three-goal advantage to come within one, but a tally each from James Hall and Quentin O'Reilly returned the upper hand to Adelphi. With 3:30 left in the second half, Aidan Egazarian added one more goal for the Setters, but the team still trailed by two at the half.

Six straight shots came from various sticks of Adelphi players to open the third quarter, with the seventh finally landing on goal from the mesh of Arcidiacono. The Setters took advantage of a man-up possession to come within two, but another goal from Arcidiacono and a strike from Gordon Purdie, Jr. extended the Panther lead to four at the close of the frame.

Adelphi did not let up and held the home team to just one more goal in the final 15 minutes as they added back-to-back goals at the 8:33 mark to seal the deal.

Louis Ragusa put in another 15-save performance between the pipes for Pace, matching his count from the first time these two teams met.

The men's lacrosse program will return to their home turf on Saturday, April 10 when they host the College of Saint Rose. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m. Fans will not be permitted and are encouraged to tune in on NE10NOW.tv
