Oceanside, N.Y. - On Saturday, the Adelphi University men's tennis team defeated Stonehill College, 6-1, in Northeast-10 Conference action at the Point Set Racquet Club.
Adelphi (2-2, 2-2 NE10) fought back to take the doubles point and cruised from there.
After falling at top doubles, the Panthers won comfortably at the No. 2 and No. 3 flights to jump out to a 1-0 lead in the match.
In second doubles,
Pietro Sole and
Salomon Arce Lema triumphed 6-3 over Stonehill's Luke Nickerson and Ben Simmons. Then, at third doubles,
Luke Attride-Stirling and
Andrew Ray bested Joey Conrod and Liam Bevens in convincing fashion, 6-2.
The hosts carried that momentum into singles, where Adelphi won the first three matches to finish, ultimately securing the final decision in its favor.
All three matches also wrapped up in straight sets.

Sole won 6-2, 6-1 over Nickerson at second singles. Attride-Stirling prevailed in straight sets (6-3, 6-0) at the No. 3 flight.
Valentin Le Goupil-Maier earned a 6-2, 6-3 victory at fourth singles.
Additionally, Lema succeeded in straight sets (6-2, 6-3) in fifth singles and
David Leader won an eight-game pro set by an 8-2 decision at the No. 6 flight.

Rebecca Fakas and the Panthers return to action Tuesday (Apr. 6), when they travel to Waltham, Mass. for a 3 p.m. first serve at Bentley University.
