#7 Men's Lacrosse Tops Saint Rose, 15-10

Albany, N.Y. - With the help of seven goals in the third quarter, no. 7 Adelphi men's lacrosse secured a 15-10 victory over the College of Saint Rose Saturday afternoon. 

Behind five-point performances from Joseph Duchnowski and James Hall, the Panthers (3-0) had six additional goal scorers, with Gordon Purdie, Jr. leading the way with four tallies alone. Between the pipes, Kevin Rice collected six saves as Edward Perlstein posted a 19-of-27 performance at the faceoff X. 

Adelphi got off to a slow start as the home team put in the opening goal just three minutes into the contest, but Nicolas Racalbuto found the back of the net less than 60 seconds later to even the score at 1-1. The Panthers added another goal before the opening frame expired, but Saint Rose got in the final word with a tally from Eddie Baker. 

Neither team scored for the opening six minutes of action in the second quarter, until a goal from Purdie evened the scored at 3-all. The teams traded goals throughout the remainder of the nine minutes to post an even score at the halftime break. 

The Panthers exploded with seven goals in the third quarter to take a substantial lead over the hosts, as five different goal scorers found a way past the Knights' Ryan Fleming. Angelo Caiazzo netted the first two tallies of the third for Adelphi, sparking a 7-1 run, before Jordyn Marchiano capped the frame with a goal for Saint Rose. Perlstein held an 8-3 advantage at the faceoff X to contrinute to his teams chances on offense, as the Brown and Gold put 14 shots on goal in the third quarter alone. 

Purdie and Sean McGovern both received passes from Duchnowski to score for the visiting team to open the final 15 minutes of action as the home team managed to score two more times before the contest came to a close. David Sanzone put in the final tally of the game for Adelphi, for his fourth goal of the season. 

For the Golden Knights, Fleming was responsible for a career performance in goal, recording 24 saves despite the loss. 

Adelphi is back in action on Wednesday, April 7 when they travel to take on the Setters of Pace University. Game time is set for 3:30 p.m. at Pace Stadium. Fans will not be permitted and are encouraged to tune in on NE10NOW.tv
