#11 Women's Lacrosse Concludes Regular Season with 23-4 Win Over Saint Rose

Garden City, N.Y. - A season-high 15 Adelphi women's lacrosse student-athletes earned at least one point in the 23-4 victory over the College of Saint Rose Wednesday evening, to conclude the 2021 regular season in style on Senior Day.

The Panthers stand at 6-3 overall this season, and are seeded-third in the Southwest Division, ahead of the Northeast-10 Conference tournament which is slated to begin Friday, April 30 with divisional first round games. A full schedule of the tournament can be found below.

Christina McCabe stayed hot for Adelphi, chipping in a career-best eight points courtesy of four goals and four assists as Alison Johnson also added four helpers to finish with six points. Kole Pollock recorded her fifth consecutive game with a hat trick or better, adding four tallies while scooping up five ground balls. Earning her first victory of the season- and on senior day no less - Emily Perry stopped six shots between the pipes for the Panthers.

It took four minutes for the offense to find its way, but once it did, it refused to let up. Pollock netted the first goal of the afternoon, sparking a 5-0 run that was capped with a Kerrin Heuser to McCabe tally before the Golden Knights (1-10, 1-10 NE10) converted a free position attempt to get on the board. At 20:30, Alyssa Gillespie tipped her senior cap after finding a way past Dorothy Gaffney, which set off another stretch of eight unanswered over the following 10 minutes. It was Johnson to McCabe that made it an 11-1 ball game and engaging the running clock, which was not relinquished for the remainder of the contest.

Saint Rose managed to squeeze in the final two goals of the first half, but still trailed by 10 at the break. Despite the scoring margin, Adelphi only held a 9-8 advantage in draw controls in the opening frame, three of which were courtesy of Kerry Ann Flavin, who finished the contest with six wins.

Scoring her first of the year, Riley Reh got things started in the second half of play, converting a free position attempt at 26:55. The Panthers got in two more before Kaitlyn Jolly scored the only goal of the half for the Golden Knights, as the clock continued to dwindle. Kaylee Lamonica buried a shot off her right foot to spark the team's offense for another run, as Kelly-Ann McGrath earned a free position attempt and successful found the back of the net four minutes later.

Three-straight goals within minutes of each other highlighted the later half of the second, as Tamia Lawson and Jamie Mecca kept extending the Adelphi lead and Alison Turner scored her first collegiate goal with 2:27 left on the clock. Adding a final strike for the senior day celebration was Megan Keener, who grabbed a pass from Fiona Rafferty to seal the deal on a 23-4 win.
