Colchester, Vt. - On Saturday, the Adelphi University men's tennis team cruised to its first win of the 2021 season, defeating Saint Michael's College, 7-0, in Northeast-10 Conference action in Colchester.

The Panthers (1-1, 1-1 NE10) comfortably earned the doubles point first.

Adelphi lost only a combined three games in the three matches.

That set the tone for the singles matches that followed.

While all six results favored the Panthers, five of them came in straight sets.

Attride-Stirling, Lema and Henrique Souza all won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4, 5 and 6 singles, respectively. Le Goupil-Maier battled to a 6-4, 6-3 victory in third singles. Sole won his first set in a tiebreaker (7-6 (7-2)) at No. 2 singles, before pulling away 6-1 in the second set.

In top singles, Balestero lost the first set in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (7-0), but rebounded to take the second set, 6-2, and eventually the match via a 10-4 result in the decisive third set.

Head Coach Rebecca Fakas and her Adelphi squad now make the trip home and will host Le Moyne in a re-match of their season opener on Tuesday (Mar. 30) at 2 p.m. at Point Set Racquet Club in Oceanside, N.Y.
