Pleasantville, N.Y. - In its first conference action of the season, the Adelphi University softball team dropped the opening game to Pace University, 4-2, before taking game two, 5-4, on Saturday.
Game 1: Adelphi 2, Pace 4
The Setters got off to an early start, sending two home in the first inning off a pair of doubles and a triple.
The Panthers did not reach home until a two-run sixth inning, which, at the time, cut the deficit in half at 4-2.
Lauren O'Neill doubled to center, putting
Emily Whitman in scoring position, who reached on an error.
Faith Camilleri followed O'Neill with another double to center, knocking both runs in.
Adelphi was retired in order in its final turn at-bat to end the game. Pace tallied four hits to Adelphi's two, in the contest.

Nicole Mengel claimed her second win of the season in the nightcap.
The Panthers and Setters both scored two apiece in the first inning and the game remained tied until the fourth.
Angela Lignelli's fifth-inning homerun broke the three innings of scoreless softball and put the Panthers up one.
The Brown and Gold managed to plate two more in the top of sixth, thanks to a
Daniella Roselli RBI double to right field, followed by a Whitman RBI double to left.
The Setters responded with two runs in the bottom of the sixth, but
Claire Fon stranded the tying run on third in the seventh to close it out and earn her first collegiate save.
Adelphi will return to action tomorrow (Mar. 20) in a doubleheader at Pace, slated to begin at 12 p.m., for the second day of the conference series.
