Four Players Reach Double-Figures in Men's Hoops Matchup with AIC

Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University men's basketball team won their fourth straight contest Saturday afternoon as they held on for a 78-69 win against American International College inside the Center for Recreation and Sports.

Led by Ronnie Silva, who finished with 21 points, the Black and Gold (6-1, 2-1 NE10) saw three other players in double-digits as Isaiah Salter, Adonis Williams and Jake Hlywiak accounted for 13, 12 and 12, respectively.

Williams notched his third double-double of the year, absolutely handling the boards with a career-best 15.

In 40 minutes of action, Adelphi held the lead for nearly the entire game, with their largest lead occurring with 6:24 left in the opening frame when a three-point jumper from Chris Coalmon gave them a 13-point edge. AIC managed to cut into the deficit as time expired in the first half, with a three of their own out of the hands of Carlos Hubb, who finished with 17 points for the Yellow Jackets shooting a perfect 6-for-6 from the field.

With 2:08 left in the contest, Adelphi closed out the game on a 12-5 run, with successful free throw shooting from Salter, Silva and Williams. In the second half alone, the Panthers went 11-13 from the charity stripe as their opponents appeared five-less times at the line and only went 5-for-8.

Head Coach Dave Duke and his squad are back in action on Tuesday, Dec. 7 when they host undefeated - in conference play - Pace University. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. following the women's game at 5:30 p.m. inside the Center for Recreation and Sports.
