Rindge, NH - In its penultimate weekend of action, the Adelphi University volleyball program dropped a 3-0 decision to Franklin Pierce University on Friday, to kick off its final road trip of the regular season.
In a tightly-contested match, the Panthers (15-10, 4-6 NE10) fell 23-25, 21-25 and 20-25, marking its first time losing to the Ravens in straight sets.
Katie Schloss led all Adelphi players with 11 kills, as
Kambel Fiser completed her tenth double-double of the season with 22 assists and a team-leading 15 digs.
Jamie Yonker followed closely with 13 digs of her own while also adding five assists.
Franklin Pierce reached set point with a four-point edge against their opponents, but Adelphi managed to stage a comeback, earning the next four points, however the home team sealed the deal with a kill from Tessa Brandt.
The home team leapt out to a lead in the second frame, but a 4-1 stretch from the Panthers with kills from
Noelle Alberda and
Samantha Collins knotted the score at seven-all. Adelphi led by at-most three, but a 6-0 run from the Ravens put them back in the drivers' seat as they closed out the set with a block to move to 2-0 in the contest.
Franklin Pierce doubled the visitors score in the third set at 14-7, creating a deficit too far to overcome for Adelphi. The home team held an 11-3 advantage in aces and only saw two more blocks at the net than the Panthers, and committed nine less errors overall on offense to pick up the Fridat night victory.
Adelphi will return to action on Saturday, Nov. 6 when they play Southern New Hampshire University at 1:00 p.m. inside the Stan Spirou Field House.
