Garden City, N.Y. - The No. 9 Adelphi University field hockey team advances to the program's first-ever Northeast-10 championship game after a 2-0 victory over New Haven on Thursday.
Kelsey Catalano scored the game-winning goal to keep the Panthers in postseason play. Catalano batted a pass from
Danielle Kempf into the cage in the 12th minute to decide the game.
Emily Reichenbach lifted one into the back of the net in the 56th minute to further protect the lead.
The Panthers took 16 shots to the Chargers five, pressuring New Haven goalkeeper Kiara Integlia to make 10 saves.
Amanda Montiel made two saves in the cage for the home team to hold New Haven scoreless and claim her sixth shutout.
Adelphi will compete in the Northeast-10 championship game on Sunday, Nov. 7. The Panthers will play the winner of the Assumption vs. Pace game being played at 7 p.m. tonight. The time of the championship game is to be determined.
