Albany, N.Y. - Despite leading at the half, the Adelphi University men's soccer team dropped a 3-2 result to The College of Saint Rose in its 2021 regular-season finale Wednesday at the Plumeri Sports Complex.
The loss pits the Panthers at 9-6-1 overall and 8-4 against NE10 opposition to close out the regular season.
Although the visitors fell behind in the opening minute, Adelphi overcame it and took a 2-1 lead into the break.
Aidan Keenan quickly tied the score in the ninth minute, after re-directing an initial strike by
Francisco Greco.
Nearly eight minutes later,
Tim de Meij's first goal of 2021 put the Panthers ahead. His quick touch beat Saint Rose keeper Tomas Rozman to the lower left corner in the 17th.
That lead didn't hold up across the final 45 minutes though, as the hosts struck twice on just four shots on goal.
While Adelphi outshot Saint Rose 10-8 in the second half, Rozman swallowed up all three shots on target that he faced from the Panthers.
Head Coach
Gary Book and his Adelphi squad will next appear in the first round of the NE10 Tournament. The eight-team field is expected to be announced Thursday.
