Men's Soccer Exits in NE10 Quarterfinals at SNHU, 1-0

Manchester, N.H. - On Saturday, the No. 5 seed Adelphi University men's soccer team lost 1-0 to fourth-seeded Southern New Hampshire University in the quarterfinals of the 2021 NE10 Championship at Penmen Stadium.

While the Panthers prevailed 2-0 in their regular-season meeting at SNHU, Adelphi dropped its fourth-consecutive one-goal decision to end the year.

After seventy minutes of scoreless soccer, SNHU's Jannik Mohr ended the stalemate. His header off a Luca Shubitidze corner beat Daniel De La Heras for the eventual game-winner in the 72nd minute.

Until that point, Adelphi had limited SNHU (11-5-1) to only two shots on goal -- both of which came in the second half.

In the first half, the Panthers maintained possession at an incredible 59 percent clip and accounted for the only two shots on target between the two teams.

Benji Jones nearly put Adelphi in front on a volley early in the second half, but SNHU's Jackson Rivers kept it out with a right-handed save.

In the final minutes, Anthony Blaskovic, with the Panthers looking to tie the score, drove a shot towards the near post that Rivers stopped while diving to his right.

Adelphi concluded its 2021 season at 9-7-1 overall and 8-4 in NE10 play. For more information, please continue to check back at AUPanthers.com.
