Silva Drops Career-High in Men's Hoops 84-69 Win Over CSI

Staten Island, N.Y. - With the help of a new career-high from senior Ronnie Silva, the Adelphi University men's basketball team cruised to an 84-69 victory at the College of Staten Island on Monday, for their fourth win of the season.

Silva used 14-for-21 shooting from the field, which included six three-pointers as he contributed to 50 percent shooting from beyond the arc for the Panthers in the opening half. Andrew Delaney also ended up with a career-high and his first double-double of the season, accounting for 12 points and 15 rebounds. Rounding out the three athletes in double figures from Adelphi (4-1) was Adonis Williams who also chipped in 12 while adding seven rebounds to boot.

The Dolphins were looking to pick up just their second win over the Panthers, after only playing each other a total of four times between 1979-83.

The home team also saw three players in double-figures, led by Bryce Waterman who shot 7-for-16 from three-point range to account for a game-high 28 points.

Silva, Williams and Delaney combined to go a flawless 12-for-12 from the floor in the opening half, lifting the visitors to a commanding 20-point lead after 20 minutes of action.

At 16:35 in the second half, Chris Coalmon drained a three-pointer that gave the Panthers their largest lead of the contest at 26, that stood until CSI knocked down five consecutive three-pointers of their own to tail by 10. In that stretch spanning just over two minutes, the Dolphins' Waterman made four consecutive three-pointers, and was joined by Messiah Mallory in the run to bring the game within reach.

The home team got as close as seven down the stretch, however, late fouls sent Adelphi to the line eight times under after the 3:34 mark, where Williams, Delaney and Zachary Feingold went a combined 7-for-8 to seal the deal in their final contest of November.

Adelphi will return to conference play on Wednesday, December 1 when they trip north to take on Le Moyne College at 7:00 p.m. In their last matchup, the Panthers exceeded the century mark, taking a 107-99 victory from the Dolphins on Feburary 11, 2020 with the help of a career-high from Spencer Foley
