Rockville Centre, N.Y. - In a tight-lipped affair, the Adelphi University women's basketball team fell 71-63 to neighboring rival Molloy College on Tuesday night at Quealy Gymnasium.

The early pattern for Adelphi (1-3) this year has been strong starts, and the Panthers initially jumped out to a 20-9 first-quarter advantage.

Adelphi led for almost the entirety of the opening period, but a 10-3 run that started midway through the quarter elevated the difference to double digits.

Molloy (2-3) fought back and closed the gap to 20-16 at the quarter break, before fully overcoming the deficit and grabbing a 26-25 lead with 6:18 left before the half.

While the Panthers trailed by a bucket at halftime, the two teams never led by more than two possessions in the third quarter.

Entering the final 10-minute period, Adelphi maintained a slight edge at 51-49.

A Korina Guerra three and a Sydney Rosenoff lay-up had the visitors in front 63-60 with under three minutes to go. Those were the last points for the Panthers in the contest.

Molloy closed out the final 1:55 on a game-winning 11-0 run, keeping Adelphi off the scoreboard in the process.

Rosenoff picked up her first collegiate double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Kaitlyn O'Connell matched her freshman teammate with a team-high-tying 13 points.

Jillian Licurgo contributed 20 minutes off the bench and registered 12 points and five rebounds. Emma Cuccurullo had six points, eight rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Adelphi will now break for Thanksgiving and return to action Sunday (Nov. 28) in Lakewood, N.J. at Georgian Court University at 2 p.m.
