Catalano's Game Winner Helps No. 8 Field Hockey Take Down No. 10 Stonehill in NE10 Quarterfinal, 1-0

Easton, Mass. - Adelphi University field hockey forward Kelsey Catalano scored the game-winning goal over Stonehill College on Monday to advance the team to the Northeast-10 seminfinal.

The Panthers (13-5, 10-3) won the quarterfinal match-up 1-0 in the opening seconds of action. Stonehill (13-5, 11-3) committed a foul that led to an Adelphi breakaway early on. Catalano and Giana McKeough had a give-and-go exchange in front of the cage that Catalano converted into the deciding point just 44 seconds into the contest.

The Skyhawks had an opportunity to send in the equalizer off a penalty corner in the second quarter, but Amanda Montiel stepped up to make a save and keep the home team off the board.

Adelphi outshot Stonehill 13-4, challenging Stonehill goalkeeper Abigail Campbell with 10 shots on goal.

Montiel made her first playoff start in the cage for the Brown and Gold recording three saves and her sixth shutout of the season.

Adelphi will compete in the NE10 semifinal against the winner of #7 New Haven and #2 Bentley. The game will be played on Thursday at the higher seed at a time to be determined.
