Albany, N.Y. - In a game that ended without a winner after 110 minutes of play, the Adelphi University women's soccer team left the Capital District on Wednesday night with a goalless tie against No. 7 The College of Saint Rose in an NE10 showdown.
Entering action, the Golden Knights (11-0-3, 8-0-3 NE10) were tied for the most goals of any team in the NE10.
Adelphi (5-5-3, 5-5-2 NE10) held them scoreless for four full periods, before a tie was declared at the conclusion of the second overtime.
In fact, the Panthers held their opposition to only one shot at halftime and just two shots on goal throughout the match.
Saint Rose's Marika Lairendeau made a diving stop to her left on
Lola Kochanskyj before time expired in the first half to keep the game scoreless.
Late in the second half,
Kayla Mushorn went to goal, but her right-footed strike sailed just north of the crossbar.
Only a combined six shots on goal were allowed by the two stingy defenses.
Sarah Hofmeier stopped both shots that came her way in the Adelphi net.
Head Coach
Brooke DeRosa and the Panthers will now return home to host Senior Day on Saturday (Oct. 30) at 2 p.m. against Assumption University.
