Sparkill, N.Y. - The No. 9 Adelphi University field hockey team added to it's win column on Wednesday, taking down St. Thomas Aquinas, 1-0. 

Despite a quiet opening quarter of play, junior Giana McKeough found the back of the cage in the 19th minute to net the deciding tally. McKeough is now second on the team with 10 goals on the season.

The Panthers (9-4, 7-3) took 12 of their 15 shots in the first half and still outshot the Spartans (5-9, 4-6) 15-7 on the contest. St. Thomas Aquinas did not challenge Adelphi goalkeeper Amanda Motiel until the second half, placing just two shots on goal. 

Montiel secured her third shutout of the season, saving the pair of shots she faced. 

The Panthers will hit the road again on Friday, Oct. 22 to play Southern Connecticut at 7 p.m.
