Game Recap: Field Hockey |

Field Hockey Falls to Bentley, 2-1

Garden City, N.Y. - Despite scoring the first goal of the contest, the Adelphi University field hockey team fell to Bentley University on Saturday, 2-1, at Motamed Field.

The first shot attempt of the game was taken in the 10th minute by Adelphi (3-4, 1-3 NE10). Amanda Lee got off a shot attempt that was kicked back at her by Bentley goalie Madison Clark. Lee followed up on her own shot and was able to send this one to the back of the cage to notch her first career goal.

Down 1-0 to start the second quarter, the Falcons (6-4, 4-2 NE10) answered on a shot from Madison Halas. The score remained tied through the half.

The Panthers put the pressure on the Falcons' defense at the start of the second half with six shots and four penalty corners. The home team was not able to capitalize on any attempts.

Bentley regained possession and pushed the ball downfield in the 42nd minute. With a scramble in front of the goal, Bentley's Ava Bevilacqua batted a cross from Madison Halas out of the air and into the goal.

Adelphi was now down 2-1 with just over a quarter left to play.

The Brown and Gold had another opportunity in the fourth quarter, this time with four penalty corners and three shots. The Panthers ultimately fell short in their attempt to even the score.

The Panthers will return to action on Monday (Oct. 4) against No. 8 Saint Anselm College. The game will be played at 3 p.m. at Motamed Field.
