Garden City, N.Y. - The No. 9 nationally-ranked Adelphi University field hockey team took down Mercy College 7-1 on Tuesday afternoon to extend it's win streak to four.
After a three-goal first half, the Panthers (7-4, 5-3) boasted four more in the third quarter to seal the deal. Freshman
Amanda Lee accounted for two of the third quarter tallies, totaling goals three on the game. The rookie is now on a five game scoring streak.
Notching their first career goals in the Brown and Gold were
Morgan Minicozzi and
Bianca Bachisin, contributing to Adelphi's 39 shots on the contest.
The Mavericks were quiet offensively until the fourth quarter, taking five of their seven shots in the remaining 15 minutes of play. The visiting team put one on the board after capitalizing on a penalty stroke taken in the 53rd minute by Kasey Volz to make the score 7-1.
Amanda Montiel defended the cage for the Panthers making four saves over 60 minutes played.
Adelphi will return to Motamed Field on Saturday for a conference match up against New Haven. The game is slated to begin at 1 p.m. and will be the team's Island Harvest Food Drive game.
