Baseball Drops Two Against No. 10 Southern New Hampshire

Garden City, N.Y.- After securing a Saturday afternoon victory, the Adelphi University baseball team suffered two losses to no. 10 Southern New Hampshire University in Sunday's double header on William J. Bonomo Memorial Field.

Game 1: Adelphi 4, Southern N.H. 10
Southern New Hampshire University (10-4) got on the board early, scoring two runs in the top of the first. But Adelphi (4-3) responded with homeruns from Tyler Becker and Brandon Warick, plus an RBI from Tim Feliz to give the Brown and Gold a 3-2 lead heading into the second.

The visitors were quick to reply, scoring two more runs to take back the lead. The Panthers tied up the game courtesy of a single from Matt Alifano which drove home Nick Gavilla.

The back-and-forth continued as Southern N.H. took the lead again, 6-4 in the top of the fourth and extended their lead to five in the top of the sixth, as the Panthers remained scoreless after the conclusion of the second frame.

Adelphi went to multiple pitchers throughout the game, including starting pitcher, Nick Palmerini, Steven Murphy, and Mark Novello, who recorded two strikeouts apiece.

Game 2: Adelphi 0, Southern N.H. 3
Nicolas Luc started on the mound for the Panthers, holding off the Penmen for the first four innings and logging five strikeouts in 4.1 innings.

The only action of the game came in the top of the fifth, as Southern N.H. scored two off of a homerun to right center field, followed by one more run before the inning's close.

In the field, the Brown and Gold were able to halt the Penmen for the remainder of the game, but could not break through the visitor's defense to get on the board.

The Panthers continue their season next week as they travel to Florida for eight road games, starting with an 11:00 a.m. double-header against Stonehill College followed by Lynn University.
