No. 10 Women's Basketball Cruises Past AIC, 70-58

Springfield, Mass. - The No. 10 Adelphi University women's basketball team jumped out to a 25-7 first-quarter lead and never looked back in a 70-58 win at Northeast-10 Conference rival American International College at Butova Gymnasium on Wednesday night in Springfield.

In the first 10 minutes, the Panthers (21-2, 12-2 NE10) shot a startling 58.8 percent (10-of-17) from the field, while limiting the Yellow Jackets (7-16, 4-10 NE10) to a 1-for-12 performance.

Leonie Edringer, who scored a game-high 21 points in the contest, accounted for 11 of Adelphi's 25 points in the quarter.

AIC managed to break into the visitors' lead and closed the gap to 44-37 midway through the third quarter, but Adelphi fired back with a 6-0 response to go back ahead by double digits.

In addition to her 21 points, Edringer filled the stat sheet with 10 rebounds, five blocks and four assists. Jess Camarda poured in 12 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Emily Miccile finished with 10 points and six rebounds. Fallyn Stephens added eight points, six assists and four steals.  Emma Cuccurullo had seven points and six rebounds in 17 minutes off the bench. Katie Murphy contributed seven points, nine rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Head Coach Missy Traversi and the Panthers wrap up their three-game road trip on Tuesday (Feb. 11) in Syracuse, N.Y. at NE10 rival Le Moyne College at 5 p.m.
