Flushing, N.Y. - On Wednesday, the Adelphi University men's tennis team dropped its 2020 season opener to Queens College, 7-0, in non-conference action at the QC Tennis Center in Flushing.
It was the head coaching debut for
Rebecca Fakas, who was appointed to lead the Adelphi men's and women's tennis programs on Jan. 13.
The team of
Sabin Adrian Saveluc and
Andrew Ray won a 6-3 decision at No. 2 doubles, but the Knights (2-1) came away victorious at the No. 1 and No. 3 flights to secure the team doubles point.
In singles,
Luke Attride-Stirling fell by a 6-3, 6-1 final to Lucas Demuth at the No. 3 spot.
Valentin Le Goupil-Maier lost a hard-fought a 6-4, 6-2 match to Moritz Borges in fourth singles.
Fakas and the Panthers are back at it Saturday (Feb. 22) at No. 16 Concordia College in Bronxville. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
