Syracuse, N.Y. - For the first time since the 2011-12 season, the Adelphi University men's basketball team took down Le Moyne College on Ted Grant Court, notching over 100 points for the first time this year in a 107-99 victory Tuesday evening.
The Panthers (17-7, 10-5 NE10) took down the leaders in the Southwest Division with the help of a new career-high performance from
Spencer Foley. The Chicago, Illinois native dropped 32 points behind 8-13 shooting from the field and a 10-11 mark at the free throw line.
Ronnie Silva,
Austin Beech and
Chris Coalmon also followed suit with double-digit scoring, accounting for 22, 21 and and 14, respectively.
The Dolphins (17-7,13-3 NE10) also saw four players in double-figures and were led by Ryan Roland who dropped 30 with 10 made field goals, five of them coming from beyond the arc.
Le Moyne managed to work out to a lead over the first 13 minutes of action, until a three-pointer from
Andrew Delaney sparked a run for Adelphi that was capped with a Foley tre which knotted the game at 29-all. It was the other Delaney - Tim - that recorded a layup to send the visitors on a 12-2 run to lead by nine at the half.
A three-pointer from Beech allowed the Brown and Gold to lead by double-digits, a margin they managed to maintain over the following six minutes. The home team got as close as four, but the Panthers continued to drain shots from downtown as Foley's bucket at 5:24 pushed Adelphi to their largest lead of the second half at 14.
With 1:04 left in regulation, the Panthers started taking trips to the foul line, where they went a perfect 12-12 with eight makes from Foley. For the contest, Adelphi outshot Le Moyne from three-point range with 18 makes, compared to the Dolphins' 13 on 37 attempts.
Adelphi returns home after being on the road for three games on Saturday, Feb. 15 when they host the College of Saint Rose at 3:30 p.m.
