Rindge, N.H. - The Adelphi University men's basketball program suffered its largest margin of defeat this season on Saturday afternoon, giving Franklin Pierce University a 95-61 victory inside the Ravens Fieldhouse.
Ronnie Silva poured out a team-best 19 points behind 50 percent shooting from three-point range for the Panthers (14-6, 7-4 NE10) as both
Jared Rivers and
Spencer Foley chipped in 12 points apiece in the loss. Franklin Pierce University guard Falu Seck scored a season-best and game-high 24 points to lead four players in double-digits in the 34-point victory.Â
The Panthers and Ravens (12-6, 7-4 NE10) battled back and forth for the lead in the early going until a 26-6 run in favor of the hosts put them ahead by 18 with 9:22 remaining in the first half. In that stretch, the Ravens drained seven consecutive three-pointers to jump out to a comfortable lead. Silva and Foley managed to drop threes of their own in the ensuing minutes, but it was not enough as Adelphi still trailed by 18 heading into halftime.Â
Adelphi was held quiet for the opening five minutes of the second frame, not scoring a point as the home team added seven points to their total to lead by 25. Things got carried away quickly as the visitors continued to shoot poorly, which amounted to 26 percent from beyond the arc in the second half alone on 19 attempts, as the hosts were 12-28 from the field and 9-12 at the free throw line.Â
The Ravens used 14 points off the bench in the second frame and capitalized on second chance points with 12 to secure the victory.Â
The men's program will look to bounce back in a home contest on Wednesday, January 29 when they host Saint Michael's College at 7:30 p.m. In conjunction with the home doubleheader and the Adelphi Center for Student Involvement, the athletic department will host the Welcome Back Bash and Military Appreciation Night.
