Garden City, N.Y. - Senior forward
Kerianne Scorce tallied a goal in each half Tuesday to lead the Adelphi University women's soccer team to a 2-0 win over Bentley University in Northeast-10 Conference action at Motamed Field in Garden City.
It was Scorce's first two-goal game of 2019 and the fifth of her collegiate career. The Panthers (4-2, 3-1 NE10) have also yet to allow a goal this season on their home turf.
Both of Scorce's goals on the day came off some fancy footwork. Her first tally to open the scoring occurred in the 32nd minute, when she collected a
Tori Flaherty throw-in and subsequently dribbled through two defenders, before bending a shot into the left corner of the net.
In the second half, Scorce got her second goal nearly 11 minutes into the period. Off a giveaway by Bentley (2-3-1, 1-2 NE10) junior goalkeeper Kat Hassapis, Scorce again drove past two defenders and found the short side, extending AU's lead to 2-0.
Scorce finished the match with a game-high five shots -- four of which were on target. As a team, the Panthers outshot the Falcons by an overwhelming 19-7 count.
Adelphi sophomore keeper
Krista Aliscio picked up her third shutout of the year, making four saves in the process. Hassapis stopped nine shots for Bentley.
Head Coach
Brooke DeRosa and the Panthers are back at it next Wednesday (Oct. 2), when they travel up to Syracuse for a 4 p.m. match at NE10 foe Le Moyne College.
