Colchester, Vt.- The Adelphi University field hockey team dominated Saint Michael's College, 5-1, in a Northeast-10 Conference match-up Saturday afternoon at Duffy Field.
Despite giving up the game's opening goal, the Panthers (4-2, 2-1 NE10) exploded for five unanswered goals to seal their second conference win in as many games.
Trailing 1-0 in the final minutes of the first quarter, Adelphi leveled the score with 2:21 left, when a shot fromÂ
Elissa Frein trickled past SMC senior goaltender Anna Hurley for the equalizer. The two teams would eventually go into the break tied at 1-1.
Junior forward/midfielder
Jackie Brown took over the game for AU in the third quarter. She netted two goals -- just 5:49 apart -- to give the Panthers their first lead of the game at 3-1. The Brown and Gold did not let up from there.
Sophomore forward
Kaylee Deleva scored her first collegiate goal in the 53rd minute, while Frein got on the board with her second tally of the contest in the 58th minute to cap off the scoring.
The Panthers attacked the goal with 40 shots for the game. Hurley recorded a career-high of 21 saves for Saint Michael's.
The Panthers look to push their win streak to three, when they go head-to-head with University of New Haven in an NE10 match on Wednesday (Sept. 25) at 4 p.m. at Motamed Field in Garden City, N.Y.
