Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Aydogan's Two Second-Half Goals Lift No. 1 Men's Soccer Past Le Moyne, 3-2

Syracuse, N.Y. - Tied 1-1 at the half, John Aydogan buried a pair of late second-half goals to send the No. 1 Adelphi University men's soccer team to a thrilling 3-2 victory over Le Moyne College in its 2019 Northeast-10 Conference opener Saturday at Ted Grant Field in Syracuse.

Aydogan broke the 1-1 tie in the 71st minute. After collecting a pass from Stephen Megaloudis, Aydogan dribbled into space and ripped a shot from the top of the 18-yard box into the lower-left corner of the net. It proved to be Aydogan's first career game-winning goal.

Less than four minutes later, Aydogan struck again. This time, he received a pass from Taylor Kaczynski in stride and went around a defender, before finding the left-side netting with a shot that re-directed off sprawling Le Moyne goalkeeper Josh Mahr.

The Dolphins (4-1, 0-1 NE10) didn't go away quietly though. With 4:40 left in regulation, Mirko Orchi beat Adelphi (5-0, 1-0 NE10) backup keeper Daniel De La Heras with a shot inside the left post, making it a 3-2 game.

De La Heras made one last diving save on a free kick by Le Moyne's Robert Rohrhirsch in the final minutes to seal the victory for the Panthers.

Adelphi held a 16-12 advantage in shots. Seven different players tallied a shot for AU in the match. Meanwhile, Le Moyne owned an 8-4 edge in corner kicks.

De La Heras and Adelphi starting keeper Matt Apicella combined for three saves. Mahr stopped five shots for the Dolphins.

Head Coach Gary Book and the Panthers now come home to face NE10 rival University of New Haven on Wednesday (Sept. 25) at Motamed Field at 7 p.m.
