New Haven, Conn. - An 87th-minute goal by the Owls' Mikaela Magee doomed the Adelphi University women's soccer team Wednesday night in a 2-1 loss to Northeast-10 Conference rival Southern Connecticut State University at Jess Dow Field in New Haven.

The shots came early and often for the Panthers (2-2, 1-1 NE10) in the first half. AU outshot SCSU 6-0 in the opening 20 minutes, but went into the half trailing 1-0.
Despite being held shotless for half of the first period, Southern Connecticut (3-1, 1-1 NE10) converted on its first shot of the match in the 27th minute.
Adelphi would tie things up in the latter half, after freshman forward
Hailey Franco scored off a rebound in the 68th minute. Franco finished the night with a game-high three shots on goal.
Though the Panthers outshot the Owls 12-2 in the final 45 minutes, AU never took the lead in the contest.
For the match, Adelphi held an overwhelming 18-6 advantage in shots and a 7-2 edge in corner kicks. Aliscio made two saves between the pipes, while Allie Smith stopped eight shots for SCSU.
