Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

#2 Women's Lacrosse Handed First NE10 Loss by #1 Le Moyne

Syracuse, N.Y. - Even with a hat trick from leading scorer Kole Pollock, the no. 2 Adelphi University women's lacrosse program dropped their first league game on the road at top-ranked Le Moyne College, 8-7, Wednesday afternoon. The win locks up the top-seed for the Dolphins ahead of the conference tournament, slated to begin a week from today.

Pollock led the team with three scores and was closely followed by Lena Riportella who notched two in the loss. Emma Lemanski allowed eight goals, however accounted for 11 stops between the pipes for the Panthers (14-2, 11-1 NE10).

Le Moyne (16-0, 12-0 NE10) used four goals in both halves and several big plays down the stretch to secure the 8-7 victory. The Dolphins scored first, but Adelphi managed three straight tallies at the 12 minute mark to begin to pull away. The home team stayed cool and recorded the next two to bring it to a tie game once more, but it was a combination of Pollock and Riportella that put the visitors back out to a two-goal lead.

With a one goal advantage, the Brown and Gold struck first to open the second half as Riportella netted her second of the contest. The home team was responsible for three unanswered, capped with a man-up strike from Erin McMullen to make it six-all with less than 15 minutes left in regulation.

Christina McCabe scored late after the 'Phins had taken a lead to make it even for the third time in the battle of the unbeatens, but it was Le Moyne who got the last word courtesy of Bryanna Fazio which sealed the deal.

A late foul on the home team set up a free position for Adelphi, but a huge stop for Hannah George allowed Le Moyne to run out the clock to earn the battle of the unbeatens.

The Panthers will close out the regular season on the road with the finale at American International on Saturday, April 27. Opening draw is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
