Match Recap: Men's Tennis |

Men's Tennis Swept by Merrimack, 7-0

Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University men's tennis team fell to one of two undefeated in the Northeast-10 Conference teams on Wednesday.

The Panthers (3-9, 3-5 NE10) were upended by the Merrimack College Warriors (14-6, 6-0 NE10) by a 7-0 decision.

The Warriors, who have won five of their six league matched by shutout victories this season, lost just three sets over the course of the match, with Luke Attride-Stirling, Ilya Kalabukhau and Finn Krause battling at their singles flights before falling in match tiebreaks.

Adelphi was swept in doubles before taking to the singles court, as the trio of Attride-Stirling, Kalabukhau and Krause all fell behind by a set before rallying to win their middle sets.

After being edged in a tiebreak in set one, the sophomore from Hamilton, Bermuda won the second set, 6-4, before falling in the decider, while the junior from Minsk, Belarus won his middle set in the identical score by which he lost his first, 6-2.

Rounding out the effort, Krause won his second set, 6-3, after losing the opener, 6-1, but all three were unable to seal individual victories that would've pulled the Panthers closer to the Warriors in the final decision.

The Panthers close out their season on Saturday afternoon, hosting Bentley University in a 1 p.m. match. Prior to the match, Connor Dove will be celebrated for his contributions to the men's tennis team over the past four years.
