Albany, N.Y. - The Adelphi University softball team sealed a three-game sweep of the College of Saint Rose with a 7-0 victory on Sunday afternoon.
Sophomore
Ally Muller followed up a no-hitter in game one of the series with a three-hit shutout, where she struck out eight, to help Adelphi (21-15, 13-4 NE10) extend its winning streak to five games.
Rookie
Emily Whitman went 3-for-4 in the game, as one of four Panthers with more than one hit, driving in three and scoring three as well.
The freshman scored the game's first run on
Emily Turney's RBI triple in the first inning, launched a two-run homer in the third inning to put Adelphi's lead over the Golden Knights (11-18, 5-10 NE10) at 3-0, and also knocked in the fourth run on an RBI single in the fourth.
She was one of two Panthers to go deep in the contest, as
Nicoletta Cuccio added a solo shot in the sixth inning, going deep for the second straight game, while also scoring three runs.
Adelphi returns home for a doubleheader against the University of New Haven on Wednesday, April 17. First pitch of game one is set for 2 p.m.
