Garden City, N.Y. - It was a winning Senior Day for the Adelphi University women's lacrosse team on Saturday afternoon, as the Panthers won their fourth straight game with an 18-8 Northeast-10 Conference triumph over Stonehill College.
The Panthers (12-1, 8-0 NE10) were paced by nine points from junior
Alison Johnson, who dished off a season-high eight assists on the Panthers' 12 assisted goals.
Her classmate
Kole Pollock tallied five in the contest, while
Lena Riportella notched a hat trick, with an assist as well.Â
Adelphi fell behind just 38 seconds into the contest as the Skyhawks (7-6, 4-5 NE10) scored the first goal of the game off of Kenzie Pleshaw's stick, but quickly scored six unanswered to take a lead it would not relinquish.
In the run, Pollock scored four, with Riportella and
Alyssa Gillespie also tallying goals.
After Stonehill scored three straight of its own, Adelphi ripped off seven in a row - the last two of the opening half and the first five of the second - to extend its unassailable lead to a game-high nine, and Stonehill never drew closer than seven the rest of the way.
Tamar Epps earned her first career start in net for the Panthers on her Senior Day, logging 12:39 with two goals allowed and a save, before being relived by starting keeper
Emma Lemanski for the duration.
Lemanski made seven saves in her minutes of work for her third-highest save total of the season.
Women's lacrosse is back in action on Tuesday afternoon, traveling to Franklin Pierce University for a 1 p.m. NE10 contest.Â
