Flushing, N.Y. - A 10-day stretch featuring three matches began for the Adelphi University men's tennis team on Wednesday afternoon, as the Panthers fell to Knights of Queens College, 7-0.
Adelphi (0-3) competed with a modified lineup on Wednesday, with top flight singles player
Pietro Sole limited due to injury concerns. Sole competed at No.1 doubles alongside
Sabin Adrian Saveluc, but Queens (2-2) swept doubles play overall for the 1-0 lead in the match.Â
Sophomore
Luke Attride-Stirling and junior
David Robres de Veciana had the closest set played in doubles for the Panthers, with a difference of just one break of serve making up the 6-4 decision at No. 3 against Nicholas Volos and Camilo Arias. Â
Attride-Stirling also played a tightly-contested match at No.2 singles, as he served for the second set against the Knights' Kareem Rashad before losing the last three games for a 6-2, 7-5 decision.
Adelphi will next take on Division I Hofstra on Sunday afternoon, welcoming the Pride to the Point Set Racquet Club in Oceanside, N.Y. at 12 p.m.
