Cicileo Stays Hot to Lead Baseball to 10-5 Win at Molloy

Rockville Centre, N.Y. - In its first game back in New York, the Adelphi University baseball team was able to edge out Molloy College, 10-5, on Tuesday afternoon thanks in part to a career-high five RBIs by Lawrence Cicileo.

A two-run blast from Cicileo gave the Panthers momentum out of the first inning, giving Adelphi (7-4) momentum to eventually oust the Lions on the hosts' field - having lost to the Lions in Florida last week.

As a team, 10 batters saw the hits column for Adelphi, recording 11 as a team. Brandon Morse extended his hitting streak to 11 games, while Cicileo also went 2-for-3 and notched a two-run single in the fourth.

Molloy (3-9) answered Cicileo's blast that also scored Brett Malm in its half of the opening inning with a groundout to second base from Thomas Brady to bring home its first run from third from third.

However, the same duo of Malm and Cicileo increased the Panthers lead to 3-1 in the next inning. Malm's double and advance on an wild pitch allowed the junior to loft a sacrifice fly for the second baseman to reach home.

In the fourth, the Panthers tacked on four runs courtesy of three hits by Morse, Warick and Cicleo. After a base hit by Warick, a double to center field from Morse drove home Terwilliger before Cicleo drove two in to increase his total to five.

One inning later, the Panthers added two more runs on a base hit by Tim Feliz, before the sixth inning saw Thomas Colombo go deep to center field and put the Panthers up 10-3.

Molloy added a run in the sixth and two in the seventh to creep closer, but Kevin Glasser and Kieran McLaughlin pitched the last 2.2 innings scoreless to seal the win.

The Brown and Gold will return to William J. Bonomo Field tomorrow against non-conference opponent NYIT. The first pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
