Baseball Falls to SNHU in Final Florida Game, 12-1

Boynton Beach, Fla. - The Adelphi University baseball team dropped its final contest of its spring break trip against Northeast-10 opponent, Southern New Hampshire University, 12-1 on Saturday afternoon.

Adelphi was limited to just three hits in the game overall, as Brandon Morse, Lawrence Cicileo and Tim Feliz, each tallying one.

A double by Morse put the senior in scoring position for Cicileo to drive him home on his own double to left field, giving Adelphi (6-4) a 1-0 lead after the first half-inning, but SNHU (13-5) scored three in the bottom of the frame and five more in the bottom of the second to open up an 8-1 lead after two innings.

SNHU's Walkinshaw held the Panthers to just one more hit after the first inning, striking out 13 in eight. Adelphi's Max Steele was dealt his second loss of the season, as he allowed eight runs, five earned, in two innings of work, while the Penmen touched up Daniel Taggart and Nicholas Maricich for four more runs in the last three innings.

Out of the bullpen, Mark Novello had a strong afternoon for the Panthers, as he hurled three hitless, scoreless innings with two strikeouts.

The Brown and Gold will return to the north for a non-conference contest against Molloy College on March 19. The first pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. on the Lions' home field.
