Boca Raton, Fla.- A seven-run seventh inning including a three run homer by Lawrence Cicileo, brought the Adelphi University baseball team back from a four run deficit to defeat Post University, 7-4 on Wednesday afternoon.
Brandon Morse, Lucas Terwilliger, and Tim Feliz posted two hits each, while Brett Malm, Michael Cattani, Jordan Milo, and Cicileo each added one for the Panthers.
The Eagles (2-5) put two on the board early off an RBI triple from the second batter, driving home the leadoff for a quick run. In the next at-bat, a sacrifice fly to left field put two on the board for the Eagles after one inning of work.
The visitors increased their lead to four in the sixth, beginning with a wild pitch at the plate, followed by another sacrifice fly to make the score 4-0 in favor of Post.
Trailing by four at the start of the seventh, the Panthers (5-2, 0-0 NE10) turned up the bats scoring all seven of their runs. The rally began with a double down the left field line by Malm, followed by a base hit by Terwilliger. With Cattani up to bat, the senior roped a double to left field allowing Malm to score the Panthers first run of the contest.
One batter later, freshman Tim Feliz held the left line for a two run double to put Adelphi within one run. Following a base hit by Milo, Cicileo stepped up to pinch hit with two men on base. In his only at bat of the day, Cicileo slammed a homerun to right field for three RBIs and a two run lead (6-4). The final run of the contest was scored off a wild pitch, allowing Morse to score.
On the mound, Daniel Taggart secured his first win of the season in relief, in his first appearance this year. Tom Ambrosino entered the game in the ninth to clinch his second save of the season for the Brown and Gold.
The squad continue its Florida slate tomorrow against Northeast-10 opponent, Merrimack College. The first pitch is scheduled for 11 a.m. on the campus of Lynn University.
