Syosset, N.Y. - The Adelphi University men's tennis team dropped its spring opener to Long Island rival NYIT on Thursday afternoon indoors at Syosset Sportime, in a match rescheduled from Feb. 12 due to inclement weather.
The bright spot for the Panthers (0-2) came at the top spot in doubles, as
Pietro Sole and
Sabin Adrian Saveluc partnered for a 6-2 win, but tight decisions at the other two flights sealed the doubles point and the early lead for NYIT (2-1).
The Bears proceeded to sweep singles play, with all six matches being decided in straight sets.
Sophomore and 2017-18 Northeast-10 All-Rookie selection
Luke Attride-Stirling played the tightest set for the Brown and Gold in the match overall, as he pushed senior Maxton Cook to a first-set tiebreak before falling in two.Â
