East Stroudsburg, Pa. - On Sunday, the No. 21 Adelphi University women's basketball team erased a 10-point fourth-quarter deficit in an 82-77 come-from-behind overtime win against East Stroudsburg University in non-conference action at Koehler Fieldhouse.
Trailing 56-46 nearly a minute into the fourth quarter, the Panthers (11-0) went on a 17-6 run to rally to a 63-62 advantage at the 4:27 mark. It was Adelphi's first lead since the opening half.
Leonie Edringer got it started with a put-back lay-up and added a three-point play in the stretch.
Fallyn Stephens nailed a three-pointer and converted on a pair of free throws.
Emma Cuccurullo scored the go-ahead lay-up.
The Warriors (5-4) would go back in front and hold a 71-63 lead with 1:59 to go, but the Panthers had another comeback in them.
This time,
Katie Murphy and
Jess Camarda knocked down back-to-back three-pointers to make it a one-possession game (71-69) and Cuccurullo came through with the game-tying lay-up with 42 seconds left, evening the score at 71-all.
East Stroudsburg had the opportunity to win it at the buzzer though. A crucial block by Edringer on Sadie Cresswell's shot attempt sent the two teams into overtime.
In the extra session, Edringer hit a mid-range jumper with 3:32 left to put Adelphi in front, 74-73. Later in the period, Murphy drove baseline for a reverse lay-up that widened the gap to 77-73.Â
The Panthers contained the Warriors to just six points in overtime to seal it. As part of that, Murphy had a block on a game-tying three-point shot attempt by ESU's Tiffany Lapotsky with two seconds remaining.
Stephens led all scorers with 22 points on 8-of-12 shooting in the victory. She made 4-of-8 attempts from deep, as well. As a team, Adelphi shot an impressive 43.5 percent (10-of-23) from three-point range in the game.
Edringer collected 20 points, nine rebounds and two blocks. It was her third 20-point game of the season. Murphy had 16 points, eight assists, five rebounds and two steals.

Missy Traversi and the Panthers are back at it Wednesday (Dec. 18), when they play their final game of 2019 against local non-conference rival Molloy College at the Center for Recreation and Sport in Garden City, N.Y. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
