Garden City, N.Y. - With the celebration of the graduating class from the Adelphi University volleyball program preceding their Northeast-10 Conference matchup, the Panthers took down Southern New Hampshire University in three sets inside the Center for Recreation and Sports Saturday afternoon.
Katie Barry,
Sara Bisbe, Steph Milillo and
Katarina Warburton were all recognized prior to opening serve for their excellence in the classroom and contributions they've made to the program over the past four years. In turn, Bisbe collected a match-high 15 kills as Milillo and Warburton combined for 31 digs on defense.
In true Barry fashion, the Freeport, New York native notched a kill that sparked an unanswered run with her at the service line to put the home team ahead by six. The home team kept rolling, courtesy of strong defense at the net and timely offense.
Mandreja notched a kill that brought the Panthers to set point, but the Penmen managed to stage a a five-point run down the stretch but a long rally ended in a hitting error for the visitors. A run of seven unanswered closed out the second frame with McKenzie at the serving line.
The third and ultimately final set was highlighted by a .341 team hitting percentage from the Brown and Gold, which accounted for 19 Panther kills.
Adelphi closes out the regular season on the road as they trip to Saint Michael's College on Friday, Nov. 15 and Saint Anselm College the following day.
