Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Hoops Halted at Goldey-Beacom

Wilmington, Del. - Following a tie-game at halftime, the Adelphi University men's basketball team suffered an 83-75 loss at non-conference opponent Goldey-Beacom College, Tuesday afternoon, in their final road contest of November.

The Panthers (4-2) saw three players reach double-digit scoring, led once again by sophomore Ronnie Silva, who dropped 20 points with the help of six three-pointers. Austin Beech and Jared Rivers chipped in 14 and 12, respectively as they combined for 14 rebounds and eight assists.

For the opening half, the home team held the advantage in shooting from the field, but it was Beech who went 3-3 at the charity stripe to balance out the scoring line even though both teams headed for the locker room knotted at 35-35. Rivers was responsible for the Panthers' final six points of the half, but it was the hosts that got in the final bucket to even the score.

The Lightning (1-5), were led by Kyle Elliot, who scored a career-best 32 points and went a perfect 13-13 from the field, which included a second half scoring bout of 19 points, shooting 7-of-7 from the field with two 3-pointers and three free throws.

Silva started off the second half with a shot from three-point land, but Goldey-Beacom took control with an 11-3 run over a three-minute span that gave the home team a 78-66 lead with 3:32 remaining. A 9-3 run from Adelphi brought the game back within single digits, but regulation concluded with the hosts earning their first win this season.

Adelphi will return to their home court on Sunday, Dec. 1 to host Concordia College in a 2:00 p.m. non-league matchup.
