Albany, N.Y. - Behind an 18-point, 18-rebound performance from
Leonie Edringer, the Adelphi University women's basketball team cruised to a 77-46 victory against The College of Saint Rose in its 2019-20 Northeast-10 Conference opener Saturday at Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium in Albany.
Edringer was an impressive 9-of-16 from the field and 10 of her 18 rebounds came on the offensive glass, which was a career-high.
Katie Murphy made 7-of-10 field goals for 17 points and swiped five steals.
Emily Miccile finished in double figures for the second-straight game, totaling 16 points.
The Panthers, who improved to 5-0 overall and 1-0 in NE10 play, held the Golden Knights (2-2, 0-1 NE10) to just 27.5 percent (14-of-51) shooting from the floor and forced 28 turnovers.
Adelphi jumped out to a quick 11-2 lead in the contest and led 23-12 at the conclusion of the first quarter. Murphy led the Brown and Gold with eight points in the period. Miccile and Edringer had six points apiece.
The Panthers' lead never dwindled from double digits after the opening 10-minute session. Adelphi began the second quarter on a short 6-0 run to widen the gap to 29-12 and eventually built as much as a 19-point advantage (39-20) before the half.
In the second half, the difference increased to more than 20 points, when Edringer drained the first basket of the third quarter, making it a 43-22 game. Saint Rose only made six field goals over the final 20 minutes of play.
