Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Silva, Beech Lead Men's Hoops to Victory at Saint Rose

Albany, N.Y. - Behind game-high performances from Austin Beech and Ronnie Silva, the Adelphi University men's basketball team picked up their first Northeast-10 Conference win over the College of Saint Rose Saturday afternoon, 85-76, in the league opener for both clubs.

Beech and Silva tossed in 25 points apiece, and freshman Joshua Koulamallah posted a double-double of his own behind 13 points and 10 boards for the Panthers (4-1, 1-0 NE10). Jared Rivers was the fourth member of the Brown and Gold that reached double-figure scoring, contributing 11 behind 4-7 shooting from the field.

The teams traded the lead several times in the opening half, but the visitors managed to put the home team back by at most 11 points on two occasions.

The Golden Knights managed to bring their deficit to single digits, however Adelphi outscored Saint Rose 15-4 throughout a six-minute surge late in the second half. Silva, who went 5-10 from beyond the three-point line in the contest, drained his second of the half to push the Panther lead back out to double-digits.

The program continues its road stretch with a non-league bout at Goldey-Beacom College on Tuesday, November 26 starting at 8:00 p.m.
