Frein Nets Third Multi-Point Game in No. 7 Field Hockey's 4-2 Win at Molloy

Seaford, N.Y. - On Saturday, the No. 7 Adelphi University field hockey team defeated local rival Molloy College, 4-2, in a Northeast-10 Conference match-up at Cedar Creek Park.

Elissa Frein nabbed her third multi-goal game of the season for the Panthers (8-2, 6-1 NE10) in the effort.

Her first tally opened the scoring in the 13th minute. After Alexandra Docyk inserted the ball to Frein on a corner, she beat Molloy (1-8, 1-6 NE10) freshman goalie Ava Quick with a shot from the top of the arc to stake Adelphi to a 1-0 lead.

The Panthers struck late again in the second quarter. Frein was involved once more, as her initial shot was put back by Allie Laird, as the period came to a close. That sent AU into the half with a 2-0 cushion.

Adelphi kept its foot to the gas pedal in the latter half and converted just 3:57 into the third quarter on another penalty corner. This time, Frein assisted on a Jackie Brown tally, making it a 3-0 game.

Frein would have a hand in each of AU's goals on the day. Late in the fourth quarter, Frein tapped in a rebound off Quick's pads to extend the Panther lead at that point to 4-1.

The Panthers outshot the Lions 33-7 in the victory. Graduate goalie Stephanie Peragallo garnered her third win of the season with a season-high three saves.

Adelphi is back in action on Wednesday (Oct. 9) in its Breast Cancer Awareness game against Franklin Pierce University. The conference match will take place at Motamed Field at 6 p.m.
