No. 6 Field Hockey Falters Against No. 1 West Chester

West Chester, Pa.- The No. 6 Adelphi University field hockey team was unmatched Monday afternoon in a non-conference road game at West Chester University, dropping a 7-0 decision to the top team in Division II.

The Panthers (13-4) struggled, giving up five goals in the first half of play, followed by the final two in the third quarter.

A trio of seniors netted multiple goals each to lead the Golden Rams (16-0)  to their 16th straight win and 11th shutout this season. Kaite Thompson led the team with three goals, followed by Caitlin Kelly and Kat Roncoroni, with two tallies each.

The loss marks the Panthers largest deficit since 2017, when the team fell to West Chester on Sept. 24, 2017 by six goals.

Adelphi goalkeeper, Stephanie Peragallo, held off the Golden Rams in the final quarter of regulation, logging a season-high 12 saves despite the defeat.

West Chester out shot the visiting team 19-3 on goal, with Kaylee Deleva, Danielle Kempf, and Elissa Frein each recording one shot for the Panthers.

The Brown and Gold return to action Saturday Nov. 2 at noon for their final game of the regular season against Southern Connecticut State University. Adelphi will honor its graduating members prior to the contest at Motamed Field.
