No. 6 Field Hockey Overcomes AIC in Overtime, 1-0

Springfield, Mass.- The No. 6 Adelphi University field hockey team overcame American Int'l College in overtime, 1-0 on the road Saturday afternoon in a Northeast-10 conference matchup.

Danielle Kempf netted the lone goal of the game in the 62nd minute leading the Panthers (13-3, 11-2 NE10) to victory over the Yellow Jackets in overtime (9-6, 5-6 NE10).

Play was quiet in the first half, with only one shot coming from Adelphi's Kaylee Deleva. Eventually, American Int'l would log two shots but none on goal, thanks to stealth defense on the visiting team's half. The Brown and Gold walked away with five shots on goal and 13 overall to dominate play for most of the match.

AIC's goal keeper, Nikki Bates, logged four saves but was ultimately unable to stop the Panthers, as they netted the game-winning goal just two minutes into overtime. The win marks Stephanie Pergallo's sixth shutout, putting her at 8-1 for the season.

Adelphi returns to action in a non-conference matchup against No.1 West Chester as the two top-ten teams battle it out Monday Oct. 28 at 4:00 p.m. in West Chester, Pa.
