No. 6 Field Hockey Falls to Bentley in Overtime, 3-2

Garden City, N.Y. - The No. 6 Adelphi University field hockey team fell in overtime to Bentley University in a Northeast-10 conference match, 3-2, on Wednesday night at Motamed Field.

In the ninth minute of overtime, Bentley's (7-8, 5-6 NE10) Tess Anderson crossed the ball in the air to Rachel Crowley, who batted it in for the game-winner.

A back and forth battle for the entire match, the Panthers (12-3, 10-2 NE10) got on the board first, scoring in just the third minute. Freshman Giana McKeough found the back of the cage, off of a pass from Kaylee Deleva.

Trailing 1-0, the Falcons (6-9, 4-7 NE10) responded in the 25th minute to even the score. It was Madison Halas that came through, to match Adelphi heading into the second half of play.

The Brown and Gold picked up the intensity in the third quarter, as Jackie Brown scored her 10th goal of the season in the 38th minute, off an assist from freshman Bianca Bachisin, to take back the lead at 2-1.

The Falcons answered again though in the 48th minute. This time, it was Sam Simione who tied up the score, which remained a stalemate until the first overtime, when Crowley netted the game-winner.

Adelphi looks to bounce back against American International College on Saturday (Oct. 26) in an NE10 road game at 5 p.m.
