North Easton, Mass. - The No. 6 Adelphi University field hockey team extended its winning streak to double digits, after a 1-0 victory over Northeast-10 Conference opponent Stonehill College on Friday afternoon at W.B. Mason Stadium.
The week of highs for the Panthers (12-2, 10-1 NE10) is marked by their best ranking and longest win streak since the program's return to the University in 2008. With 10 consecutive wins and four straight shutouts, Adelphi is currently atop the NE10 standings with a 10-1 league record.
The lone tally of the game was scored early on by
Danielle Kempf, the junior's third of the season. After a scramble in front of Stonehill's (7-5, 7-3 NE10) cage, Kempf one-timed the ball off a pass from
Giana McKeough in just the 13th minute of play.
Both teams had eight shots apiece, but the Panthers outshot the Skyhawks in shots on goal, 4-1. Adelphi goaltender
Stephanie Peragallo logging one save in her fourth-consecutive shutout. The National Defensive Player of the Week is currently undefeated at 7-0.
