Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University men's and women's swim programs wrapped up a busy weekend, competing at both the Stony Brook tri-meet and in conference action against the College of Saint Rose.
Stony Brook/Iona (Saturday, January 12)
- The relay team of Daniel Lee, Jack Wheeler, Zack Vreeland and Eian McKeon posted a third-place finish in the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 1:42.90. McKeon was also responsible for a time of 1:53.03 in the 200 freestyle.
- Crystal Zhang posted a 55.55 time in the 100 yard freestyle to place third overall in the field and recorded a top-two finish in the 100 yard butterfly event, where she swam to a second place finish in 1:01.57 - just .84 seconds behind the top finisher.
- Zack Vreeland bested teammate Brian Klotsche and one Iona competitor in the 100-yard butterfly on the men's side, swimming to a second place finish in a time of 55.38.
The College of Saint Rose (Sunday, January 13)
The men suffered a 139.5-50.5 loss, while the women fell short in a 124-86 decision, as the women's team was able to take home three top finishes in the NE10 matchup on Sunday afternoon.
- Ashley Danulevith won the 100-yard freestyle event in a time of 56.76 a season best in the event.
- Emma Brown took home the top-spot in the 500 freestyle, marking a new personal best in the race with a time of 5:41.07. She bested her time from this season's Queens/Baruch tri-meet by three seconds.
- In the 200-yard freestyle relay event, led by Zhang and followed by Brown, Jeshley Jimenez and Danulevith, Adelphi took the top finish in a time of 1:45.13.
- Matthew Mazur swam in the 1000-yard freestyle event and placed second, recording a time of 11:17.50.
The Panthers will now prepare for the Northeast-10 Conference Championships, scheduled to begin on Thursday, Feb. 7 and hosted by the Assumption College Greyhounds will host the event at Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
Last year and for the first time since 2013, the men's and women's team titles were hoisted by the same school as Southern Connecticut won both conference championships at the WPI Recreation Center.
