Waltham, Mass. - Two first-half goals was all the offense the Adelphi University women's soccer team needed to post another Northeast-10 Conference win on Thursday afternoon, as the 18th-ranked team in Division II defeated Bentley University on the road, 2-0.
Madison Raposo and
Kerianne Scorce each scored for Adelphi in the victory, with both tallies coming within three minutes of each other in the opening half.
Raposo's third goal of the season was assisted by Scorce in the 23rd minute, as she sprinted down the left wing and took a cross from the six-yard box into the far post to break what was a scoreless tie.Â
Three minutes later, Scorce scored for the fourth time this year so far after
Jacklyn Lada won a header in midfield, and played up to Scorce on a breakaway who finished from 12 yards out.
The Panthers (5-0, 4- NE10) improved their scoreless streak to 295 minutes, dating back nearly four games - to the 40th minute of an eventual 3-2 win at Merrimack on Sept. 8.
Rookie keeper
Sarah Hofmeier, the reigning NE10Â Goalkeeper and Rookie of the Week, tallied six saves on 13 Bentley shots.
The freshman put in hard yards over the second 45 minutes of the contest, as Bentley took 10 of its attempts on her cage, but she made five saves in the second half, including three in the first five minutes.Â
Adelphi remains on the road for its next contest, traveling to Saint Michael's for an 11 a.m. league game on Saturday afternoon.
