Saskatoon, Saskatchewan - Rising junior
Justin Napolitano of the Adelphi University men's lacrosse team was one of six athletes named to the All-World Team at the conclusion of the recently-completed IIJL
World Junior Lacrosse Championship in Canada.
Representing the United States, Napolitano was joined in selection by five other players from the Canadian and Iroquois squads: Iroquois transition player David Anderson, Iroquois forward Marshall Powless, Canadian forward Tanner Buck, Canadian goalkeeper Brody Harris and Canadian defender Matthew Wright.
"Playing in Canada in a very different atmosphere was memorable. It was a great experience, as the people I met on my team were from all over the country, and I connected with players from different countries and nations," Napolitano said. "It was an honor to receive All-World Team, and I'm looking forward to playing in Canada again."
To play in the 2018 IIJL World Junior Lacrosse Championship, players must be under the jurisdiction of an IIJL member national association, be a citizen and/or hold a passport of the country/nation he represents, be born on or between Jan. 1, 1998 – Dec. 31, 2002 and must not be or be turning 21 years old in the calendar year.
This year's edition of the World Junior Lacrosse Championship featured teams from the United States, Canada and the Iroquois nation, and the event has been sanctioned by International Indoor Junior Lacrosse since 2015.
In his first season in Brown and Gold after transferring from SUNY Farmingdale last year, Napolitano started all 15 games at defense and led the men's lacrosse team in caused turnovers. He was named to the Northeast-10 All-Conference Second Team, and was honored as a USILA All-American Honorable Mention.
