Oceanside, N.Y. - Senior
Matteo Cannavera nabbed a pair of victories at the top of the lineup for the Adelphi University men's tennis team in its final regular season home match of the season on Saturday afternoon, as the Panthers defeated Saint Anselm College, 8-1, at the Point Set Indoor Racquet Club.
Adelphi's lone senior dropped a combined five games across singles and doubles to lead Adelphi (4-7, 4-3 NE10) in the match, which saw the Brown and Gold sweep doubles and then win five out of the six singles matches. Cannavera and
Sabin Adrian Saveluc partnered for an 8-2 win at the top spot, finishing second overall in the match after
David Robres de Veciana and
Connor Dove got Adelphi out to an early lead win an 8-3 win at No.3 doubles.
In singles, Cannavera and
Luke Attride-Stirling posted dominant wins, dropping just two games in each match at No.1 and No.5, respectively, and Adelphi rode victories at the second through fourth flights through to its second straight team win.
The Panthers are back in action on Wednesday, April 11 when they travel to Merrimack College for a 3 p.m. NE10 match. The two teams will square off at the Northeast Tennis Center in Middleton, Mass.
